Need help with a Compaq.

How do I enter the bios setup in a 98' compaq? What key do I press while it boots? I tried del but it didn't seem to work. Thanks for any help.

Every Compaq I have worked on has been F10. (And that is like over 40 different models)

What do I do after a add a new hdd? It doesn't seem to boot. There are no options in bios. This is the last time I'm gonna work on a compaq.

just make sure you have the master hd as master and the 2nd hd as cable select or slave.

it should boot up.

Yep it was F10 on my 2k compaq. I meant some 1 elses compaq 😀

Are you replacing the original drive or just adding one.
Sounds like you don't have something connected right.
Are they both on the same IDE?
If so, make sure the boot drive jumper is set to master and the other is set to slave.
Or try setting them both to cable select.
