Need help with a boot up problem....

Well i have the kt7a motherboard with a 1.3 Ghz 266fsb amd processor. When i turn it on it goes through its boot up process but when it get to the win 98 screen (the one showing it is loading windows) the motherboard beeps once, and when windows tries to load the USB devices (from what it looks like when my intellimouse blinks) the whole computer locks up and freezes. After a shout time (around 20 secs) it reboots and I cant figure out why. I can get in windows safe mode fine but when I try the normal mode of windows it freezes and reboots itself. Any suggestions would be *GREATLY* appreciated.

If your mouse is the only USB device and you don't want USB, change the mouse to PS/2 (I assume you have an adapter?) then disable USB from the BIOS. Sounds like it's a driver issue, if you want to fix USB then get a stable version of the drivers and install them while in safe mode (this would be with USB enabled in BIOS).

Well I have several USB devices but only the mouse is plugged in atm. Can u tell me where i can get a stable version of the usb drivers?

Ok i just disabled the USB and still does the same thing so its go nothing to do with usb......

this could be a symptom of a virtual device driver not
initialising properly.
you can pinpoint what file is at fault by booting with
a log file - press F8 at boot and choose boot with
BOOTLOG.TXT. when it freezes reset and boot into
DOS and type edit c:\bootlog.txt and the last file in the
initialisation stage will be the culprit.

ok the point where it freezes it when it is loading the video drives for my DDR Geforce. So I updated the drivers and it still freezes when it loads the video card drivers...........*sigh*

if you suspect the video drivers are at fault, can you boot up in safe mode??

yes i can boot up in safe mode fine...
