Hi all,

Here is the thing. I just went from a G3 TI200 to a 8500DV because I want to do some Video edeting. I figured this card was praised enough that... while not playing quite at the same performance I could still reasonably well play.
However the performance all but stinks and it is so bad that I figure I must have forgot something!?

Benchmark with Mad Onions Bench... the first car chase the frame rate stays well below 20 frames... spikes once or twice barly over. And that is the LQ one.

I never installed the drivers on the CD, but went straight with the downloads from ATI's newest driver from the web.

Anything blatend I am missing here?

Here is the 3dmark detail:

Score: 2084
CPU AMD 1700+
Resolution 1024x768
32 bit color
Compressed Textures
Rendering pipline D3D Pure Hardware T&L
Car Chase LQ 19 fps
Car Chase HQ 12.2 fps
Dragothic LQ 38.8
Dragothnic HQ 17.2

and so on and so on... I am about to cry

Thanks for the Rage3d info. I eventually found some info over there that helped me fix the problem. It was a long long night yesterday since this bothered me quite a bit. I been reading some groups at Rage3d especially the tech support forum. One of the first sticky points out how to uninstall previous versions of drivers. So I did all that. After checking twice that no ATI or NVIDIA drivers are left I installed ONLY the drivers, non of the extra stuff to make it an All In Wonder(TV, VIDEO and such).
Low and behold my 3DMark is finally where it should be... around 7k if I remember right and the first car chase now does jump the 100fps.

I fired up the SOFII test and Ghost recon and performance is now better then it was with my TI200... :)

No problems during gaming... but guess what reared it's ugly head. "The infinite loop problem". My computer froze and proved to me that the issue with the Loop is not the Graphic Cards Manufacturers fault, but MS's or VIA's (Or a combination their off). :(

We'll see what happens the next couple days.

Thanks again for the help!
