Need help with 700m and power options

my 700m is acting weird all of a sudden. when i leave it alone and it turns the monitor off, i cant get it to come back. sometimes it will happen as soon as it turns the monitor off sometimes it will be fine for 2 hours and then it happens. the computer just freezes, i cant do anything, i lose my wifi signal and there is no hdd activity, the power light just stays on. i have tried all different types of power schemes and it still happens. the only thing i have done to it was wipe and clean intall win xp pro and i installed a 512mb stick of corsair value select. my next step is to take out the memory and see if that is the problem, but that does not seem like it would be. please, any help on this situation would be VERY appreciated!!!

will do. also quick question, can i use driver cleaner to get rid of chipset drivers on the 700m, i know i can do cab cleaner but then there are no options to clean intel chipsets, is doing cab cleaner enough?

Driver Cleaner will not remove Intel chipset drivers. The A05 bios was just released for the 700m so maybe you could try updating yours.

i ended up doing the dell diagnostics and it found no errors, but when the computer was let sitting for about 30min and the screen went off, it still froze. i took out the 512mb stick of corsair i had put in (to go with the 256mb stick already in) and it worked fine, memtest86+ passes 5 runs no problem and it stayed on all night with no lock-ups. I decided this mourning to put the 512 back in just to see, i first ran memtest86+ for a pass and i got no errors (did not have too much time before work, will run more passes later), then i let it sit and turn the screen off and got no lockups. my next step is to let it sit when i get home from work and see if it locks up, other wise, maybe the 512 stick was just not sitting right or something. any thoughts?
