need help with 56k modem?..

Blah, this is really gay, and i dont get it hehe. My modem has been doing fine for a few weeks now ever since my freind gave it to me, it's been connecting at regular speeds and everythign been doin just fine. But just yesterday whenever i try and d/l a song or a web page or anything, it goes so much slower than before. I try to d/l a song, and it doesnt go above 3k/sec. In the bottom right corner, there's this little modem, whenever i d/l a song or something, both lights on it light up green and stay lit up, but now they hardly turn green at all?....do you think there is a problem with the modem or is it just the place that im connecting to?.. any advice would be appreciated 🙂...thanks
