Need help with 56k modem

I have a actiontec 56k pro pci modem and is having trouble connecting. I use to have an old packard bell p150 and now have a celeron 366@550. Well I try and dial and the few rare times i connect...i have trouble surfing. The mobo is a matsonic 7192s w/ built in sound. Sometimes after i connect to aol the sound freezes on the "welcome" part for like a second. I don't think it is the isp because I have the same problem with bluelight. While i'm connected the bytes sent and received in the two little computer monitors by teh time are very low and are slowly moving up. They use to be in the millions, but is usually stuck at 510 and 100,000. Thanks for the help.

Its sharing the same irq as the onboard sound i think. Dial up networking is working ok...takes a little longer than usual to connect though.

Problably better if it has it's own irq, maybe move the card to a different slot , or designate an irq for it's present slot from the bios. Hope that helps.🙂

You might be a culprit of the infamous AOL Adapter. Well, you already are, but whatever. 😛

Go to your Network Control Panel, and remove the AOL Adapter. Reboot. The next time you open up AOL it should rebuild itself.

Also, make sure your ISP's primary and secondary DNS IP's are in the Network Control Panel under TCP/IP Dialup Adapter Properties.
