Need help with 2 questions on Laptops and Internet

What is the best Laptop now? Should I get a Gateway? What CPU? RAM? etc... Also, is there a way to get on the net through a cell phone or something? I need some type of wireless net connection where i can access the net from anywhere. I also need a network card so i can plug it into the network at my office building. Any help would be GREATLY appreciated! Thanks
 
IBM Thinkpad T20. This baby rocks. It has a built in modem and network card. I know this one cost an arm and leg but you ask for the best. It comes with 128mb Ram, DVD 8x and 12 gig HDD. I also liked the docking port for this one.
