NEED HELP wiht SCSI Burner!!!

Hey I have an Adaptec 2903B PCI SCSI card and that is installed correctly. My burner is a Plextore 12/4/32 SCSI drive. Now my problem is, when ever I have the burner connected to the Card, the "Read On" light is on, but the drive is not recognized and I cannot open the tray. Now when I disconnect the drive from the card, I can open and close the tray. Anyone know what to do? BTW im running Win2k.

Is the Plexwriter the only SCSI device on your system? Check the jumpers on the back to make sure it is terminated. Make sure the SCSI ID is not the same as any other SCSI devices you have.

😉

Yes its terminated. Still dont work. Its weird because when It is plugged into the card, when it is at the loading windows screen the progress bar freezes, but if I pull it out, it will unfreeze and load normally. This is pissing me off

I don't recall if the Adaptec 2930 is bus mastering or not . . . but to run a burner externally, the SCSI BIOS should not be "On." (You have a Ctrl "A" function on boot right after POST?)

The Adapter should be terminated and also your external device needs to be terminated as well. It should have ID #6 if the H/A is #7.

Is your burner external?
