Hey, here is what I am trying to do. I have Verizon FIOS, but I do not want to use their router. A couple months ago, I set everything up so that my Buffalo WHR-HP-G54 became the modem/router with the Actiontec behind it (it only broadcasted the guide menu for the TV). All was good.
Recent we bought a new TV so I wanted to put the 360 downstairs so I can play in 1080p. In order to do that I need another WHR-HP-G54 to act as a bridge.
In my efforts to put tomato on the new WHR-HP-G54, I (i know this is idiotic) took out the WAN cable (from the original WHR-HP-G54) and put it in the new WHR-HP-G54. Now I cannot access the internet at all when I put the cable back into the original WHR-HP-G54. I was able to flash the new WHR-HP-G54 later on. Now it is just waiting for the orig WHR-HP-G54 to work so I can put in the settings for it to act as a bridge (btw, I am using <http://www.wi-fiplanet.com/tutorials/article.php/3810281> as a guide to set it up as a wireless ethernet bridge.
I called Verizon and they wouldn't do anything unless I had their router (the actiontec) connected to the box outside, so I did that and they were able to push a signal through. However, when I take the rj45 out of the actiontec and put it in either one of the WHR-HP-G54's, I cant access the internet. (Quick question: when I reset the actiontec, does that mean the settings I had to have it not broadcast a wireless signal and to keep it behind the WHR-HP-G54 are now gone?). Once I am connected with the Verizon as the one getting the signal and the buffalo behind it, I can once again connect to the internet. However, that is the exact opposite of what I want.
I have tried power cycling, didn't work. I didn't try resetting the orig tomato-loaded WHR-HP-G54 since I don't want to have to do all the settings again, but I will do it fo I have to.
btw, my bro's laptop keys are really sticky (someone spilled coke, but the culprit, even though we know who she is, isn't owning up to it) so sorry for any misspellings, grammatical mistakes, or anything that just doesn't seem right.
