need help: what to look for when buying a motherboard

hey guys, its my first time building a comp...a 1.4ghz tbird. i was just wondering what to look for when buying a good motherboard. not looking to do some excessive OC'ing...but i dont want a mobo that doesnt run stable when overclocked

Well from what I see the new VIA K266A is doing VERY well, but I would wait to see how the n-force turns out.

If u can wait...wait for the KT266A DDR chipset mobo. So far the best performer. If u can't, any DDR mobo w/ AMD 761 chipsets would be good. For SDR mobo, any KT133A mobo should be ur choice.

As for the brand...Asus is stable, Epox & Abit are very O/Cable.

The most important thing is to buy from a reputable vender, because you may have to rma it back. Newegg is very popular, and is always getting new shipments of mb.
