Need help w/ two WEIRD WinXP Issues

I have Windows XP Media Center edition.

1. If you have Windows. Look in your start menu. From the bottom up, on the left, here's what you should see if you have the same operating system:
* Blue Bar that says "Log Off" and "Turn Off Computer
* "All Programs" with a green arrow
* Horizontal line
* Recently used programs
* Horizontal line
* Customizable list of programs which you might use frequently.

My first issue is with that customizable list of programs. I customize it, but when I restart my computer, it resets!! Does anyone know why that's happening?

2. You know when you're writing a text document, and then you go to save it? You know how a list of files and folders comes up, in alphabetical order?

Mine comes up in reverse alphabetical order!! EVERY TIME!!

WHY!?!? That is so annoying when I'm trying to get to a folder and for no reason it's at the end of the files list!!

HELP!! 😱)

For issue #2, you might want to try the following. Open My Computer, set the folder view you like, then go to Tools > Folder Options > View > Apply to All Folders. Hope this helps.

For issue number 1, when you say you customize the start menu, are you talking about the programs below the line or above the line? If you are talking about the ones below the line those will automatically change depending on what programs you use the most. Or are you talking about the ones above the line on the left of the start menu shown on this link?

That link also explains how to get those programs there and keep them there, let us know if this helps or if you have already done what is shown in that link if it still won't work.
