I have 3 computers. THe main computer is directly connected to the internet. And the 2nd pc and 3rd shares the internet connection from the 1st.

The 2nd computer has a wired nic and is sharing the internet connection from 1st computer thru ICS
the 3rd computer has a Belkin 802.11G wireless adapter and shares the connection wirelessly.

Under "Network Connection" I see that the local connection and wireless connection are bridged.

So anyways When i clik on the tiny icon in the task manager area, it says that the wireless connection has an excellent signal strength from both computer 1 and computer 3 and that the speed is supposely 54mbps. Then after I open IE on the third computer, the speed would go down to 1mbps. I can surf the net, but its so slooow. So I tried setting the rate thru the properties of the card, under "advanced" tab. But setting it 54 would result in no connection, can't surf internet.

Someone plz help!!!

You're not using Direcway are you?

U can delete the bridge if you would like.

ok.. your expaination.. to me... it seems a little confussing....

you have PC 1 with the internet coming into some port, nic or usb.? and have ICS running on that PC 1.? "should just be this one...."

Out of PC 1 you have a cable going to a Wireless Access Point / Router(router has dhcp disabled(as not to conflict with DHCP given out by ICS)).. from the AP you have a cable going to PC 2. IP set for DHCP... no ICS installed...

on PC 3 you have a wireless NIC setup and settings are all default. ICS isn't loaded.. and ip is set for DHCP.

Sry if it's confussing. It's late and i'm tired.

am i close?? :)

You're way off buddy.

I have two nics for pc 1. 1 nic is connected to the cable modem, the other nic is connected to pc 2.

PC 1 also have an wireless adapter, and pc 3 has one too.

I have no router watsoever or acess points. does give you a better idea of my situation?

well i found out that by taking away the wired connection from (1st pc to the 2nd pc), i get good speed about 2mbit transferring files from pc1 to pc3 wirelessly.

So is there a way around this? sharing wired connection and wireless connection but also having good speeds?

I know a guy, every time he needs to go from New York to Boston he goes first to Philadelphia.

I ask him one time why do you have any thing to do in Philly?

He said, No I just got use to it.

because its expensive. and my 1st computer is always gonna be on so why not use it as a router?
