Need help w/power connections on new PC

I am building a new PC: T-Bird 1.33, AM7266 MB, 384 Crucial PC2100 RAM, 300 Watt PS, etc. I fired it up this AM and all is well. Yeah!! 😀 Now I am down to rerouting the cables for better airflow/organization. During the cable preparation and organization, I came to a standstill with a question. Besides the ATX power lead there are 4 power leads on 2 sets of wires coming from the PSU. I can put the HDD and CD on one and use both plugs. Problem is that that leaves the other two plugs to power all the fans and the floppy. That's one 80 mm fan, one 60mm fan and one set of 3 very small fans (5.25 in-bay blower setup) and the floppy drive. Will that be too much of a load for one side? Will that adversly effect performance? Should I perhaps run one of the fans off the power leads to the CD?😕

I can't say, with 100% certainty, that all ATX power supplies are built the same. I can say, however, that the one ATX power supply I went into had all of the red wires (forget which voltage that is!) soldered together to the same feed point.

What this means is that (at least with the P/S I had) it doesn't matter what you connect to the individual sets of wires/connectors coming from the power supply because internally they are all (same colors) connected together to a common electrical feed point.

Just a note. You might be boderline with your 300W P/S and all the fans, particularly if you do any overclocking.

Wishing you continued success.
