Need help w/ openoffice in linux

Ok so I'm running RH 7.3 on my IBM thinkpad T20.

Yesterday i copied all my true type fonts over to linux so things don't look like ass when i browse the web. Then I tried to install open office but I can't see the text in the GUI to install it! Even when I choose quit I can see the two boxes but not the words in them.

Any help? I'm a linux newbie. Should I delete all my TT fonts and try to install again?
