need help w/geforce

hi all
i really need some help on this.......
ive got a celeron 400@500 on qdi legend 5 lx (oldie) 64mb ram an d an creative geforce pro(ddr) and when i
overclock the clock or the memory the performance decreases!! why the hell does this happen??????
most intriguing is the fact that when i install the det 6.18 over my 5.3 performance also decresas slightly!!!
can anyone help me?

in 3d mark2000 my score is 3400 is that score low acording to the specs of my pc?

All GeForce boards slow down if clocked too high, I can drop my Q3 benches by 75% by OCing too high, it is how they are built. There is a reason for it, it helps avoid crashes.

When you upgraded to the new Dets your performance dropped in what?

It is hard to make a statement without knowing the exacts of what your problems are.

Also- 3DMark score for what settings? If that is 1600x1200 32bit then that rocks, if it is 640x480 16bit it kinda blows

Assuming that is default 1024x768 16bit, I'm not sure with a Celeron(lame answer huh?), it is a bit lower then my Athlon 550, but I wouldn't worry about your 3DMark2K score, it is after all only a synthetice benchmark and unless it is way off which indicates problems, then I wouldn't be overly concerned.
