need help w/ file associations

i've got a small problem with my file associatiions. Somehow my .dll file ext. is now associated with ACDSEE (image viewer). I knowhow to change these associations with the file types box for other files but I don't see a listing for .dll files.
Theres no problems with the system I just now see the acdsee icon in explorer. Could someone help me get this back to the right icon.

Are you sure there is even something wrong because I thought that .dll files share libraries between programs.

go to your explorer, under view -> folder options -> file types. think can see and change the associations there.

Not really. I just see that stupid icon when ever I use explorer. and I think that there sould be a way to change it. I'm just asking

Not absolutely sure if this works with DLL files, but try right-clicking one while holding the shift key. Now select open with ... by selecting always open with you make it the new default application.

In WinME the Icon used for DLL files is stored in the Shell32.dll file. You might also notice that the same icon is used for CPL files (Control Panel Extensions), Config.sys etc.

It's possible under options in ACDSEE you might find that the file associations has something in its file types other tick box. Check it out you never know. You could select remove all associations. Then go back and select all the extensions you want ACDSEE to open.

Why don't you look in folder options and find the icon that shows with a dll file, delete it. Refresh explorer, find a dll file, right click, select properties, change icon and find the right icon in shell32.dll. That might work.
