Need help w/ epson880 printer

my recently replaced my black cartridge because it was low on ink.
now the meter never can go back to full and red flashes are coming from the printer, how can i get rid of this?
and ever since i decided to remove the color from the printer, i can't get color printed copies of stuff.
anyone?
 
If you removed the color cartridge, no wonder you can't get color prints. (doh!) Also, I think this printer will refuse to run without both cartridges installed. I have an Epson Stylus Color 880 myself and never have had any problems with it, but of course I've not tried abusing it either.
