I'm interested in playing Warcraft (or any other game) on my main 22" widescreen monitor, and being able to still see/use my desktop and browser on a second monitor. Currently, I have one monitor and just alt/tab back and forth.

So, is it possible to play a game in full screen (not windowed mode) on one monitor and still access the desktop on another?

Do I need 2 video cards, or will one with dual DVI outputs work? I currently have an 8800GTX.

How do you switch back and forth between controlling the game (or any software on the 1st monitor) and controlling the desktop (or any software on the 2nd monitor)?

How do you tell the software WHICH monitor to display a given piece of software on?

you only need 1 video card with 2 outputs, however you will have to play the warcraft in " windowed mode" but you can just make it full screen and it functions the same way but wont lock the mouse to the game

8800GTX will do what you want

to switch from the game to the desktop just move the mouse over to the desktop, you will then loose controll of the game as you cant controll both at the same time, just what you are focused on,

99.9% of the time Games display on the monitor you have lables ad "Primary"
applications will open on the primary but if you move them and then close and reopen them they normally remember their last position and open there
