I bought a Sun Microsystems monitor (20') at a computer show recently. Whenever I try to play a game or play a video with Windows Media Player in Win2K, my system locks up. It doesn't seem to matter what resolution I try, it just locks up. If I try under Win XP, everything is fine. I'm not ready to run under WinXP full time yet (give me a couple of weeks). Is there anything I can do in the mean time?
Things I've tried: Drivers 21.83, 21.85, 21.88; Disable/Enable Video RAM/BIOS Caching, Fast Write, in BIOS; 'Plug and Play' and 'Sony Multiscan 20se' monitor drivers (supposed to be equivalent).
When I try to run dxdiag, it locks up on the on any of the display tests, so I tried to reinstall DirectX 8, still no go.
Other system specs: Athlon 1.4 gig (9.5 multiplier, 150Mhz FSB), Epox 8kha, 512 DDR RAM, Visiontek GF3 Ti-200, Dual boot Win2k (sp2) and WinXP (RC-2).
Like I said, everything works fine under WinXP. Any help appreciated.
