420 watt psu

i got this card today and its underperforming when i play source i get 69-70fps on my stress test on medium/high setting on in game and on video card options its on high performance
and i cant see the temperature on my video card
plz help if possible
i am thinking its either lack of ram or faulty card

That doesn't sound like a bad framerate to me, given your system specs, but I don't know the program you're running. Any framerate faster than vsynch isn't usually worthwhile anyway. One thing you can try is to enter the BIOS setup, and check the AGP aperature size. If it is set to the default 32 megs you can open it up a little. I set mine to 256, but I have a lot of ram. You might try 64 megs. This will give the card's bios a larger chunk of system memory space that it can address for texture storage. If the game you're playing swaps around more than 256 megs of textures (or 128 if that is what your card has) this setting can help. If you aren't comfortable adjusting BIOS parameters you might want to get a geekier friend to help.

That 2.4 GHz Pentium is the "crap".
The RAM is also PC2700.

\EDIT: I just compared the 2.4 GHz Northwood to the AMD Athlon 3400+ 2.4 GHz Newcastle. In UT2004, it was 98 fps for the Pentium and 151 fps for the Athlon. That was with a 6800 GT but UT2004 depends heavily on the CPU.
