those parts will work fine together. mobo is nice but spendy, you could get an am3 ddr3 board for less. go with the 640gb wd drive instead, which in addition to obviously being bigger uses one less platter. psu is a solid 300w more than you need.

I was trying to find a board that was decent and compatible with the Am2+ socket for the CPU

durp, my bad, 940 isn't am3. that board works with either, so you're fine. regardless, it seems a bit pricey unless you really feel you'll use the x-fire features.

that would probably be my pick. it does have an 8x slot for CF should ever want another 4890.

where are your prices coming from? newegg has the corsair 650tx for 89.99 plus a $10 rebate. the 550vx is 56.19 after a $30 rebate.

ZZF is free, and I checked to compare the prices on them. they were fluctuating, one was priced less; one more, should balance out.
