NOTE: NOTHING IN MY SYSTEM IS OVERCLOCKED

I don't know what is going on here! My System keeps locking up spontanously. Yesterday it was fine all day until about 11:00 PM then it just locked up. I couldn't hit CTRL+ALT+DEL, ALT+F4, etc. The moouse cursor wouldn't even move. I rebooted after that and then got the same thing probably 3 more times until I just said forget it, and shut her down and wnt to bed. I have had this so far 2 times already today! I really need help with this!. My only recent system changes are a Golden Orb. I was running on a crappy HS/FAN and my CPU is a K6-2 500 so it runs pretty hot. I put in the orb yesterday around 1:00PM and it runs much cooler and I had no problems untill the 11:00 incident. Please help me somebody!

You might check to make sure all cards and cables are completely seated, and your RAM too. Is it possible that your new cooler is hung up on a motherboard component and not making full contact with the CPU? While you're checking possible problems, have a look at your power supply to make sure the little switch is set for 110 volts, a couple of friends have found theirs set to 220V and had no-boot and random-reboot problems (understandably!).

Overheating can cause lockups make sure you installed the orb properly and its locked into place cause they are not made for socket7 CPU's.

check your power supply also. the K2-500 are sometimes power hungry and by adding the golden orb you may have added the last straw.

I'm running a K3-400 and getting lock-ups on a regular basis. Part of my problem is a mouse conflict along with some weird W98 b.s.. But I did have to upgrade to a truly rated 250 watt ps, along with an added gamma fan.

pop your case off so that you can keep it cooler, make certain all your connections are good. also check to see how hot your hd is; the added heat can sometimes be enough to accumulatively (hey, I think it's a word :) ) overheat your system.
