Hi Guys

I've been reading up for the past couple of weeks researching laptops and I finally picked one up today and put it together. However I've hit a disaster. I put the aopen 1557gls barebook together and it was running fine for 5mins. I then updated the bios to the latest a1a bios which seemed to flash successfully. It was after this that I've hit an iceberg. The machine rebooted and there was no response on the lcd. I plugged in my standard crt monitor and it showed the laptop bios no problems but nothing will come up on the laptop lcd. I've installed windows and everything via the crt but cannot for the life of me get the lcd back. I've reset the bios setting to defaults tried pressing fn-f3 as the manual said but I'm having no luck at all. I can only think the flashed bios must of caused it but theres no way I can find to revert to the previous bios as I can't find an older version on the net anywhere.

Has anyone come across this problem before and know how to fix it? do you guys suspect it was just freaky timing and the lcd died just as the bios was flashed. Or do you believe it is the new bios? Could someone please link me to a previous bios or supply me with one to try to see if it bring my screen back to life.

sorry for the flustered message but I'm desperate to get this fixed as it's been a frustrating few hours

thanks in advance

Had the same problem with my ECS G551 - look at my thread titled: "Ok, just messed up my brand new laptop... AND IT'S REPLACEMENT!!!". However I didn't bother try using the vga output, now I know I should have. I learned one thing, never ever flash the bios on a laptop, its just not worth it. Hope you can RMA for a replacement.
