I need help upgrading my system. I hope this is the right forum for this stuff.
To be frank, I do not have much experience in assembling systems from scratch. While I have been adding and removing a lot of stuff, but the one and only time I started with a box, mobo and CPU was about 2 years back when I assembled my current system: FIC PA2013, 450MhzAMD K6-2, 192MB PC100 SDRAM, 30Gb and 10GB HDD, 40xCDROM, Plextor12x10x32, ATI All In Wonder128/32 AGP, Lan Card, Soundcard (ISA). Needless to say the first experience was not the best experience, as it took me about 1 month (and sleepless nights) to get the stuff working.
Currently I am contemplating upgrading my mobo and CPU and probably RAM. By being on this forum, I think I will like to go with EPOX8k7a or EPOX8kta3 and atleast 1.2Ghz Athlon or something.
I am actively looking for some help from somebody around Athens/Atlanta, GA area who can guide me and help me put this stuff together. I would like to seek advice on the choice of mobo, cpu and RAM and also, some supervision when I put this together. O'course, being a student I cannot offer you a "consultation fees" but would certainly take you out for lunch!
