I currently have a PII-400. My board is revision 1.10. According to the ASUS site, I need 1.12 to upgrade to a Cu-mine or CeleronII. They say only a Katmai processor will work with my board. Is there any way to get around this or am I out of luck? I was hoping to upgrade to a Cu-mine 700.

If a 600 Katmai is the best I can do, I'm thinking of chucking the board and replacing it with a 600 Duron set up.

Any comments as to my board's upgrade potential would be appreciated.

If that revision is a hardware revision on the board, then you are out of luck probably because you can't provide the voltage required for the new chips (1.5-1.7 volts). If that revision is a bios level, you can flash to the latest bios and be okay.

Have you been to this site :
http://www.ctechnet.com/hardware/asus.htm#10100

It looks like you need a new bios update. Easy as pie using AFLASH.

Hope this helps..Trying to give back...

Yes, that is the hardware revision. The info at ctechnet says that I should be ok running a cu-mine flipchip at 1.8V despite what ASUS says.

Also, I've heard that some P2B rev. 1.10 boards had voltage regulators allowing as low as 1.6V.

Does anyone here know how to ID the regulator to tell if this is so? Info like what it looks like and where it is would be helpful.:)
