Need help updating Firmware for new Plextor 32/12/10

My new Plextor CD-RW 32/12/10 came installed with Firmware version 1.01. I have downloaded the new version 1.04 from Plextor's site, but can not install it.

When I try to run it, the error message 'PX-W124TS not found', and that I should check that my drive cable is connected and the unit has power, which is does indeed.

I have not installed the Plex Manager 2000 that came with the CD-RW, as none of the programs would be useful to me. Do I have to install it to enable a firmware upgrade?

By the way, I think the manual was ritten by somebody with worser englisk than mine. If Plextor is based in USA, why didn't those yanks proof read it before releasing it from the Japs?

You need to install dos drivers for the plex so the firmware update program will be able to see the drive.

I have the same drive, there is no firmware update. You are trying to flash it with the 12/4/32 SCSI firmware. Hence:

'PX-W124TS not found'

Cuz you don't have that drive! 😀

The only firmware that the Plextor 12/10/32 IDE has is the Firmware 1.00 that came with the drive.

Plextor is "based" in Belgium.
Also, for future reference, be sure there's no CD in the drive while flashing the firmware.

DOH! I didnt know anything about the plex drives, I just flashed the firmware on my new Acer 8x4x32 and the first time I tried it said no upgradeable drives found, when I RTFM 😉 it said that the drive had to be accessable in dos, when I loaded the dos drivers from Acer's site and re-ran the flash program it worked like it was supposed to 😛
