Need help updating Crucial M4 SSD firmware

I tried updating my Crucial M4 SSD yesterday to the latest firmware, but ran into issues. I tried burning the zip file on a CD, and also burned the extracted files on another CD, but neither would boot up. I set the CD drive to the first drive in BIOS, and changed it to IDE per the instructions, but every time it bypassed the CD and went to Windows. Any suggestions on how to get it to recognize the CD and run the firmware update?

Also, is it really necessary to change my SATA cable from the 3.0 (6GB) port to a 2.0 (3GB) port in order to do the update? I left the cable in the 3.0 port when I tried yesterday, but can't see why that would keep the cd from booting.

Thanks

Sounds like the CD is not bootable; did you download an ISO/image file? Can you press F11 during boot to get a device menu and if so, is your CD listed? If it's bootable, maybe it doesn't have drivers for the SATAII controller? Sounds like you might have two separate problems; I'd start by checking to see if you can download an ISO and then go ahead and switch controllers to another port and see if you get different results. I did this some time ago and it was successful but I don't remember the specifics; maybe someone who updated more recently can add something.
