Need help...unlocked 2200+ will only post at 1700+

Can someone tell me what I'm doing wrong. I've got an unlocked 2200+ non barton that will only post at 1700+ default. The board is an Epox 8KHA+ board and have jumper set for 133. I have the latest bios loaded...If I leave the bios at auto CPU it comes up at 1700+. If I change the multiplier manually and take it to 13 * 133 it will post a 2000+ and show this configuration during boot up...12.5*133. If I move the mulitiplier to 14*133 then it post right back to 1700+ (11*133). In order for me to get it to post anywhere close to the 2200+ I have to up the FSB but then of course I have to start upping the Vcore as well cause everything starts getting unstable.
What am I doing wrong???
 
It sounds as if that old board doesn't support any processor higher than an XP2000. Try setting it at 13.5x133, which is what that proc. is supposed to run at. Then, boot into Windows, and using CPU-Z, make sure that it's running at 1800mhz. If it is, you've solved your problem.
 
According to EPOX's website this board should be able to handle it with a bios update. There is no 13.5 as a choice only whole numbers
