I am looking into buying an LCD for gaming. The thing is I've heard a lot about ghosting issues, as well as viewing angle problems, etc. However, for the last 3 years I've been using the LCD from my Presario R3000 laptop, and haven't noticed any such issues. I looked up the specs and they're pretty pathetic with a response time of 25ms. So my question is how can these be problems when I don't even experience them on my old laptop LCD? BTW, the LCD I am looking into buying is the Samsung 204b.

I use the Samsung 204B for gaming (mainly FPS and recently a lot of WoW) and have absolutely no ghosting or any other problems for that matter. Love this monitor. Only issue is that text is kinda small (but super sharp) at 1600x1200 on a 20.1" monitor.

Most of the complaints you'll hear about modern displays are about TN panels. They're typically found in 22" displays.

Personally, I have a 22" Samsung 220WM and think it's great. This is coming from a guy who used to be fanatical about his Viewsonic A90f.

Worst thing about LCDs, imo, is that you either run them at max resolution or they look like crap.

under 12ms or 8ms is fine
its no longer a huge issue.

Older LCD panels presented some of the problems you mention for some ppl. Modern LCD panels have improved in all these areas and are accepted to almost all users.

Concerns about these problems won't die out because the internet keeps them alive, however out-of-date they are. Just like the repetition across the internet that "brand X has incompatibility issues" (whatever that means).

Doesn't the monitor still refresh at 60hz? Or are some of them 75hz at higher resolutions now? I thought the primary advantage of the faster response times was crisper transitions between color states, not more frames per second.
