need help trouble shooting HK 3490

So the problem Im having is the left output has a lot of noise/static sound coming out of it. It happens on all the outputs (cd/vid1/vid2/ect...) and both digital and analog . Ive tried switching out cable and wires and the static is still there. Need help trouble shooting this. Any ideas?

Possible ground fault? Do you have any 2-prong plugs in the power strip? If possible, try another outlet.

Does the static get better/worse if you turn the treble, bass or balance knobs? Often static like you describe would come from a dirty pot.

treble and bass didnt do anything but when I turned the balance to the right speaker the left speakers static got louder.

Does the static sound like it's coming from the knob, like turning the knob makes a scratchy noise through the speakers? Does the static come from both speakers or just one channel?

I had the same issue with mine. Turn it off via the back switch, wait a few minutes, then turn it back on. It did that everyone once in awhile, but it could always be resolved by turning the power supply off.

Watched the vid. Took the top of the HK and I cant see a spot to spray the stuff. Everything in the HK looks tight, no room to get spray in the right spot. So I cant try it

You probably have to take the front off as well as the top to get to the pots. I've never had the top off mine, so I'm not sure how to go about getting at the pots. There has to be a way, but it might require removing a few more screws.

Thanks for all the help so far. When I get the time this weekend or next I'll take it apart farther. I'll let you know how it goes
