Need help tracing a rogue process on W98...

There's a process/app there at startup on my wife's W98 machine that causes some serious slowdowns. It's called rndal in task manager; I managed to discover it by repeatedly pulling up task manager to figure out why a game I was playing suddenly got really choppy. I end that process, and voila, game back to normal speed. The frustrating thing is, the rndal process relaunches itself after only about 10 minutes of downtime. Anyone know how to figure out what application that process belongs to, and more importantly how to keep it from relaunching after it's killed. I've used msconfig to look at everything in startup, and there's nothing obviously related. I assume the next step is to look in and edit the registry? Any pointers greatly welcomed.

Thanks

Open up a command/dos prompt and type in 'netstat -an' and see if anything is trying to connect out to the internet. Most likely some software/virus/trojan on your system. Do you remember the last thing you installed before this mysterious task started to appear? Maybe un-installing the last application might help.
