Hi,

My problem is simple. I have a laptop in my upstairs office that connects to our wireless newtrok just fine. HOWEVER about ever 5 minutes the connection is dropped and it says "Multiple WiFi networks...blah diddi blah" There is apparently a non-secure linksys router in my neighborhood. I have tryed to set my perferred networks in windows, and i have made sure (using NetStumbler) that both APs are on different channels, but nothing helped. Is it possible to block a neighboring WiFi network from being seen? Is there a program i need.

PLEASE HELP I MUST GET THIS RESOLVED

First of all, the Networking forum might have been more appropriate. Second, although I've not experienced this personally, I've read that disabling Windows' Wireless Zero Config feature, and instead using your vendor-specific connection applet to make the connection instead, can fix those issues.

My brother had a similar situation. Instead of using 802.11G, he switched over to 802.11A, and no more problems, since all his neighbors are running either B or G.

Cover your house in tin foil...oh wait this isn't OT.

You could try using either the vendor specific client or Odeyssy Client should do the trick, i'm not sure if its free anymore though.

Hi,

I am just using Windows XP, i'm not using any 3rd party applet. I was wondering what this Windows Wireless Zero Config feature is located? And I told windows to only connect to perferred networks...which includes mine and nothing else. Still it connects. Hmmmm
