I am normally not a big fan of Asus, as their boards just seem bland (visually and the BIOS options). I am quite impressed with the latest board. If anything, the BIOS has too many things to tweak, but that is an ok problem in my book. So my vote is for the Z97-PRO GAMER.

Historically, I have been a Gigabyte person. I don't think there is anything wrong with their current lineup, but for the same money I would get the Asus.

The ASUS Z97PRO Gamer and ASRock Z97 Extreme4 is almost identical feature wise from what I can see. The only obvious difference is a DisplayPort on the Extreme4. I'm assuming you're going to be running a discrete graphics card, in which case it'll be of no use to you. If you aren't then its a useful feature.

I'd have to give the nod to the PRO Gamer, however. One of my friends have an Extreme6 (same board as the Extreme4, but with an additional "Ultra" M.2 slot), and I must say I'm not impressed by either the BIOS or bundled software. Both ASUS's BIOS and software is usually top notch. Especially their fan control (Fan Expert 2/3). Board in itself is very good however, so its a matter of how much that means to you.

Oh, and welcome to the forums... :)

I'm a big fan of asus and try to use them whenever possible however you should choose the board that best suites your needs. Asus and gigabyte both have top shelf build quality and I don't hesitate to use either one when I need a board.
