Hello everyone:

One of my friends gave my me this CPU pulled from a computer that he was gonna' throw away. However, he didn't know exactly what it was save for that it was a "Pentium 4". I've never really built an Intel machine before (I'm an AMD hold-out from the old Athlon XP/Duron days) so I'm not very familiar with Intel's product line.

On top of the heat shield is the following:

Intel '03
Pentium 4
2.80GHZ/1M/800
SL7KJ MALAY

I interpreted this to mean it's a 2.8 Pent.4, 1MB cache on a 800FSB. The socket looks like it's a 775 socket...identicle to the Core 2 Duo E6600 I just bought this past weekend (Can't wait to build this machine...got an Asus P5W DH to go with it!)

My question is, is this CPU a Prescott? And if so, what chipset should I look for? I've never built an Intel-based machine before, but it's funny that I'm now looking at building 2 Intel-based rigs for myself! LOL

Thanks for any thoughts or suggestions...
