I have been searching for one color inkjet printer that can also be used to print photos, means it has at least 2400x1200dpi I guess.

Anybody has any comments on HP Deskjet 5550? Unfortunately I missed the MIR recently.

Any other suggestions btw? :)

I agree. The Canon S900 or S9000. I have the S9000 and it is awesome. :)

Canon i850 and HP 5550 are good choices, at the price of lower than $200. I'd better go somewhere like BB to take a look of those printers. :) Thanks!

I think addragyn is right.. it's kind of a limited experience, but pictures printed on my Epson 580 on photo paper looked much better than printings on my friends HP 845. I'm not sure whether that's the case with higher-end HP printers but the low-end's photo prints are quite grainy I think.. However - the text printed on the HP was more crisp.. so I think it's down to what are you going to print. I would say HP for text, Epson for images. Can't comment on Canon.. :)

I have a multipass f60, which is suppose to be the same as a canon i850. Photos look fairly vibrant, and the individual ink tanks are only $5 each :)

yes, that last epson comment reminded me of something :)

I think it's worth mentioning that the Epson 580 I had broke down. I don't think there was any good reason.. it's just that one day it decided to stop working altogether. Windows wasn't able to see it on the USB and the 3 repair shops I took it to didn't have the slightest clue about what could be wrong. I think that in one shop they even interchanged parts to see what was faulty but with no result.. sooo... there you go ;)

edit: but hey - while it was working it printed some really nice photos :p
