Hey there, new to these forums. I just picked up a socket 423 1.4mHz P4 and am now looking for a MOBO. I would like something with lots of overclocking features, v-core, mem volts, fsb options etc... I have done some investigating and I am considering either a Gigabyte GA-8IDX3 or a MSI 845 PRO (MS-6529). Anyone tried these boards, any expereince or knowledge you could share? Also, can you recommend a better socket 423 board for Overclocking, the one thing is that it must support SDRAM. Thanks for your help in advance. Jon...

Hmm...they isn't a lot of ppl around here that use socket 423 with SDRAM..or just socket 423 for that fact
I can't help you too much..
If its Gigabyte Vs MSI I would go with Gigabyte as a maker of mobos
If the socket 423 have it try to get a mobo with PCI/AGP locked....that means as you up the FSB you not overclocking you PCI/AGP cards witch would help in overclocking(if the socket 423 have that)
I would check up on Asus and see what they have for socket 423. Asus mobo have lots of overclocking features that you are looking for...
as far as the Sdam...I would upgarde to DDR

I hope thats helpful

Umm dude, any possible way you can bring back the P4 1.4 Socket 423??
Unless you paid $10 for it, theres no use in finding a motherboard to put it since its practically unupgradeable. :(

I'd suggest you return it, get a CELERON P4 1.8 SOCKET 478 for way cheap. Get a NICE 845PE Motherboard.

(ie. Aopen AX4PE, go Here! and see what it can do.)

Unless you REALLLY want to keep the socket 423 P4 get This :[
