I sold a 6 dvd box set on ebay and the winner is from Canada. I've only shipped single dvds to canada before so I'm wondering what would be the best method of shipping. I normally use USPS international air parcel but since this is a pretty high dollar item, I'm wondering if different places like UPS or FEDEX have better options.

FEDEX gets here really quickly to tell u the truth

i was surprised to receive dvds after i bought them off someone on AT like 2 days before. but i just purchased something recently and received it within 4 days. They shipped with USPS, i was shockeD to tell u the truth!

FEDEX would be more expensive

but USPS would be fine..

IMO. that is..

Also how do customs work? I normally label my items 0 value gifts because they are usually just single dvds and not really worth much anyway. This item on the other hand sold for almost $300 dollars.

I dont suborn customs fraud.

Lets just leave it at that.

USPS insurance prices suck. Get the weight and you can go to the website to price it with other carriers.

Actually, you'll find that air parcel post to Canada really isn't that much more than USPS priority for domestic packages. Go figure.

I dont plan on committing customs fraud, I plan on insuring this item because its not the usual 5-15 dollar dvd and i dont want to take any chances. I wonder how much the other person has to pay tho and how much i should value it at. Retail it was purchased for $130 2 years ago.

Send the item USPS, if you send it using a courier, the buyer might end up having to pay brokerage fees (often up to $40) to get it through customs. When Canada Post gets the package, they may charge him $5, which is a heck of a lot better than $40 (and chances are, they'll deliver it right to his door and not charge anything, other than the GST/PST).

My mom sent me gifts through fedex once with insurance. It took 3 days of faxing back and forth of information to the FDA because they wanted to know what the "chili bowls" were made of. The homemade cross-stich had to have paperwork done on it because it was a "textile product"

. It was a terrible pain in the butt and to top it off they wanted to charge me $54 american in fees which was probably more than the gifts cost. Beware shipping crap by fedex.
