need help sharing my internet connection

i've managed to do it a couple of days ago..but now my laptop cannot connect to the net
so here's an overview of my situation....

i've got my desktop connected to the net through my dorm room's hub.. i connect my laptop to my desktop through a second network adapter on my box...

i've enabled ICS on the desktop...
should i manually set the IP for my second network adapter ??? and the laptop's net card ???
could anyone help me please...

My Dorm Room Net Diagram
The Main NIC is 192.168.1.x(DHCP)
subnet is 255.255.255.0
any suggestion IP for the second NIC ?, and what other settings should i modify ???

thank you.. actually i have read the article in the link you posted, but it doesn't solve my problem... i could share my net connection,but can't browse network shared files/folders...or vice versa

As well as specific adjustment of each computer according to what it is allowed to be shared.
