Need help setting up wireless repeater

I have an Arris cable modem/wireless router from Time Warner and a Netgear N600 (WNDR3400 v2) wireless router.
Right now, I've got them sitting next to each other, hardwired, and using the N600 to server wifi to my house. The problem is that my internet connection is in one corner of my house and the signal is weak and inconsistent at the other corner of my house.

I'd like to move the N600 to the middle of the house and set it up as a wireless repeater. (at least I think that's the right term)

I've spent a bunch of time googling, but most of the info I've found has been instructions on using two Netgear routers and setting up one as the Wireless Base Station. Of course, the interface for the Arris doesn't have that option.

Can anyone help with simple instructions on how to set this up?

You should know.

1. Only few Wireless Router can be configured as is to Act like a Repeater.

2. Wireless Routers that can be flashed with DD-WRT (or Tomato) can be configured as Repeaters.

3. Repeater solution is usually very weak sine the Bandwidth is cut in to half post the Repeater.

So what to do?

The best Wireless solution is to lay one CAT^ wire and use the second Wireless Router as an Access Point.

Using Wireless Routers (or Modem/Wireless Router) as a Switch with an Access Point - http://www.ezlan.net/router_AP.html

Otherwise it might be that Powerline connection would work better than Repeater.
