Can anyone tell me why I can't set the CPU Freguency Ratio? It says "Locked" and I can't change it. Also, do I leave my Front Side Bus Clock set to "By Hardware" or should I set it to "133.33"? BTW, I have a P4 2.53GHz. I'm sure I have more questions but can't think of any right now. Thanks,

The P4 CPU multiplier is locked by Intel. I know the 8IEXP has the setting in there, but it is greyed out and you can't use it. Don't know why they do that. You should be able to adjust he FSB by 1mhz increments all the way to 150+. Thus, you'll overclock the CPU. You may have to adjust the CPU Voltage, but I wouldn't go over 1.7V. Also, set the PCI/AGP on 33/66 which is locked or you'll be overclocking those as well, which is not what you want.

If you are going to overclock, get used to where the CMOS jumper is on the motherboard, because you'll have to reset it if you run the FSB so high to where you can't boot.

Hamburgerpimp is right on the money. And yeah, since you can't unlock P4s you will probably never get to use that setting... unless you're lucky enough to get an unlocked Engineering Sample or something. :p Anyways, this board doesn't have an AGP/PCI lock, so if (when ;)) you overclock it, you'll have to deal with higher frequencies on the AGP and PCI bus. Shouldn't be too big of a problem though.

(If you don't want to overclock, then yes, just set your FSB to 133.33. However, with that CPU you should be able to get some fair results. What RAM are you using?)

Here's my hardware:

Intel P4 2.53GHz
Gigabyte GA-8IHXP2
ATI Radeon 9700 Pro
Kingston PC1066 256MB(2)
Antec TrueBlue True480
Western Digital SE 80GB HDD
Turtle Beach Santa Cruz
Plextor PlexCombo 20/10/40-12A
Logitech Elite
LIAN LI PC-61
Microsoft IntelliMouse SE
Sony FDD

I don't plan on overclocking so I'll just leave everything set to default.

You guys wouldn't happen to know why I'm not getting the boot up screen when my system boots up would you?

Nice rig. :)

And yeah, there is a setting in the BIOS that you will have to disable in order to show the POST screen. I can't remember what it is exactly, or where to find it (I'd check but I'm not at home).. but you should be able to find it. It's something about Show Logo at Boot or something like that... I think....

Just look around in there, I think it will jump out at you once you see it. ;)

Sorry I couldn't be more specific off-hand...

There's a setting in the BIOS to enable or disable full screen logo. I've tried both and I don't get anything but one beep and then Windows XP starts loading. This is strange..
