Need help setting up MR314 wireless network

Networking is not my forte, so please help me. I have checked out step-by-step guides and I am still stuck.

There are only 2 computers on this network. I have the netgear MR314 with one computer having a direct line and the other with the USB adapter. Both computers are running XP and both are able to go on the internet. I want to be able to file transfer between both computers, play games, and send to one printer.

I have tried the setup wizard which didnt seem to do much. Both computers are set to the same workgroup and different computer names. Also, both show the same IP address for some reason (I think its because of the router but I don't know how to change that setting). I dont think that there is any setting on the router that needs to be changed, but I may be mistaken.

Any advice that you guys can give me would be appreciated.

Sounds like you're on the right track. Make sure that you're running NetBIOS over TCP/IP. You need NetBIOS to be able to do Windows file and print sharing between your 2 computers. Go to Local Area Connection and then to Properties. Double click Internet Protocol. Click on the Advanced button and then go to the WINS tab. Make sure "Enable NetBIOS over TCP/IP" is selected.

To do file and printer sharing, you need to create shares. I'd create a new folder on each machine called "Shared Files" and then right click the folder and pick Sharing from the menu. This will let you transfer files to and from the Shared Files folders on each machine.
