I am thinking about buying a laser printer, but I noticed that I have an HP LaserJet 4000 lying around. It has the JetDirect 610N network adapter.

So far I got this to print by messing around with some buttons and the LCD display. It only printed system settings and menus. I have yet to get it to print anything from the PC.

I tried to set up the printer by going to the HP site, but I didn't know what drivers to use. I also downloaded the Web Jetadmin program, but it couldn't see the printer. I finally tried to use the Windows XP default drivers and couldn't get it to work.

I only tried using it with the network cable. I will see if I could find a printer cable.

Btw, I have a Linksys router at this location.

Please help me set this up.

I would really like to know if it is worth it to use this printer, or if I should buy something else, for like $250.00? I am thinking of getting the Brother HL-5250DN, if this printer is not worth it.

If this printer is worth it, I want to get the C4123A duplexing unit.

Thanks in advance for any help and suggestions.

I finally set it up and it just needed a Cold Reset. I used HP Insall Network Printer Wizard and it finally recognized the printer after the Cold Reset.
