I have a motorola wr850g wireless broadband router, my dsl modem as I was told also can be set as a router, so they told me to access the configuration page and switch the dsl modem to bridge, now I was to take the ethernet cable from the back of my pc, plug that into my motorola (wan) port andrun a cat 5e from the router to my pc, all seems fime at this point I can even go to my motorola configuration site and see that it has obtain the addresses from my dsl modem, but the problem is I can't go online, is like if the router is not sending nothing to my pc ethernet card. I can go to my son's pc and conet wireless to mine and transfer files, but no internet ascess neither there, what Im i doing wrong here. all help will be appreciated. I'm runing windows xp home. my dsl modem is a westel brand (bellsouth here in south fl.)

I am not familiar with your hardware, so it is a long shot.

You should find out how the authentication is done. DSL usually need an ID and Password. Could be that the ID and PW are inserted into the Combo Modem/Router and by disabling the Router part you do not have authentication any more.

You can try to enable again the Modem/Router connect your computer again to it (without the Wireless Router) and check if the Internet works. If it does configure and connect the Wireless Router as a switch with an access point to the Modem/Router combo and every thing should work.

This page has info about Regular DSL Modem, and a stand alone Router might be that some thing there would help you.
