I tried to connect 2 PCs with ICS but failed I think because first I need to set up a simple network. First, I want just enough to share files and a printer. Then I want to install ICS.
My 'gateway' machine has the following in the 'Network Configuration' window.
CLIENTS
1. Client for Microsoft Network
2. Microsoft Family Logon
ADAPTERS
1. D-Link(SHARED to cable modem)
2. Dial-up
3. ICS
4. Realtek(HOME network)
PROTOCOLS
ICS->D-Link
ICS->Dial-up
ICS->ICS
ICS->Realtek
TCP/IP->D-Link
TCP/IP->Dial-up
TCP/IP->ICS
TCP/IP->Realtek
Under PROTOCOLS it breaks down like this:
For every ICS->whatever //No bindings
For TCP/IP->D-LINK //IP & Subnet Mask are specified for cable modem link. Disable WINS Resolution; Gateway installed; Disable DNS
//Connection to internet OK
For TCP/IP->ICS //IP Obtained automatically;WINS config using DHCP for WINS;Disable DNS
For TCP/IP->Realtek //IP 192.168.0.1; Subnet 255.255.255.0;Disable WINS;Gateway IP of D-Link /* This was my guess */;Disable DNS
Now my client machine with ID of 'P133'
//Don't have a clue
