I have just purchased the components for my first home assembled system as follows:

Gigabyte 8PE667 Ultra2 Motherboard
Corsair XMS TwinX512-3200LLPT memory
Asus V9280S Ti4200 Video Card
Intel P4 2.66Ghz Processor
Antec 1080AMG Case with 430w PSU
Lite-On 16x DVD
Memorex 48x24x48 CDRW
Logitech Z-640 speakers
Dell 18.1" 1800 FP LCD

Anyway - I am having problems deciding where and how to hook everything up. For example - on the sound, is the black wire negative or is the orange wire negative.

On the Power - is the white wire negative or is the green negative - and on the reset, is the white negative or the blue negative.

I would appreciate it if someone would PM me with some help.

the sound can go either way ~ if its wrong the speakers will be reversed.

ide and power light work the same ~ if it dont work reverse it

the power and reset dont matter

speaker dont matter

This works for me:

Do you have a mainboard diagram? If so,

Reset SW: Pin1 = blue wire
Power LED: Pin1 = green wire
Power SW: Pin1 = green wire
Speaker: Pin1 = Orange wire
HDD LED: + = Red

Antec's directions are wrong for the 1080AMG, at least for my mainboard Epox4pea+. Antec says to have all of the labels facing the front of the case but this is incorrect. Eveything works fine as stated above for me anyway....

:)

There are a ton of knowledgable people on this forum that help out tremendously everyday. I have learned a ton of information from forums such as this one. There are other forums that are very good also at sites such as overclockers.com, amdmb.com, and asusboards.com (just to name a few) :)

HERE is a book called "Upgrading and Repairing PCs". It's an older version, but still has A LOT of great information. This is the complete on-line version, not a book for sale. Read it on-line for free.
