Need help selecting a Optical Drive

So I have bought all slected all the parts for my new rig, just need a DVD/CD Optical drive. Does anyone have a brand/model selection? I heard that Asus and some others are just rebadged Lite-On drives, is that true? What is the difference between the Lite-On iHas models? Looks like there are 224-06, 424-98, 524-T06 and 124-04. I figure they are pretty much all the same, just looking for something reliable.

Never had a problem with Lite-On or LG. Have both in my Win 7 machine, one internal and one external.

I had no real problems with my Lite-On drive (aside from the fact that it was awfully noisy), I prefer my Asus drive though (since it runs way more quietly).

krnmastersgt - Do you have a particular ASUS that you like? Model?

I've bought plenty of the iHAS124-24 and they're fine. Inexpensive, good media compatibility, and fairly quiet.

I read people are cross flashing version B of IHAS123-24. Is that worth doing, or should I just pick up a Version C for $12.70 on Amazon:

Unless there is a specific disk or something that works better in the C version, I don't really see the point.
