Situation: XP Pro on desktop. Windows 2000 Pro on laptop. Netgear wireless router/card . I'm "connected" with the laptop and can surf internet/email, etc. anywhere around the house. However, I cannot figure out how to actually see/use files that are on my host/desktop from the lappy. I tried to run the XP network wizard. I clicked on option for "Set up a home/office network" and then clicked the box for "This computer connects directly to the internet. The other computers on this network connect to the internet through this computer." Once I do that and click "next" I get: "Other computers cannot connect to the internet through this computer...in addition to it's connection to the internet, this computer must have a connection to your network."

Am I even using the right utility in Windows to accomplish my goal? I need an abbreviate, idiot's guide to setting up a network. Like I said, I'm obviously connected to the host in terms of being able to get online. But I can't figure out how to access all my files on the host computer.

Any detailed help would be GREATLY appreciated. Thanks!

Wish I had posed my question yesterday instead of wasting the majority of my day and night trying to share files wirelessly. THANK YOU for that link. Not really sure what all I did to get it working right but I just followed the info on that page.

One question though: is it possible to share program files from the host computer to the remote? I think I remember reading in there somewhere that you couldn't share program files or the folder "Documents and Settings." Is there a loophole around this?

Thanks again for the help!
