Need Help: Science Project

Hey guys,

I am a sophomore in highschool, and i visit these forums daily to check out what's up with the latest tech. I have a science fair coming up, and I really cannot come up with a project. I need your help to help me come up with a few ideas. I am mainly interested in projects that would have to do with computers or cooling computer hardware. I would say that I am very technical as well.

Thx

P.S.

Any help is appreciated at this time because my proposal is due 2morrow.

If you could come up with some sort of device the creates an infinate amount of energy, you probably could not only win the Computer Science fair, but paybe even a Nobel Prize.

I wish i could invent that gadget and it would probably make me rich, but seriously guys i need a highschool level project. I'm not trying to be mean, but I'm getting close to the deadline, and am a bit nervous.

are you smart or stupid?

stupid:
you could do the volcano experiment putting baking soda nad vinegar together in a paper mache volvano with some red food coloring.

smart:
do a project on rockets, you can use 2 liter bottles and an air compresser to launch them and you can show the math and physics behind it on some big boards. its just some easy trigonmetry and some physics

due tomorrow? What are you kidding? How are you going to get something for a long range project together so fast?

1. How about a speed control on your power supply fan based on internal temperature, or software selectable, or both?

2. How about a computer chassis that emulates a car? I mean cooling via a water pump/radiator (use a real car's heater core), maybe a few surplus gauges as a dash board, and some blinking lights or some silly thing? You could even hook up a color organ to go with the beat of sound coming from the computer's speakers. Let your imagination fly.

get a BASIC stamp and some muscle wires and the book that shows you how to make simple robots using these things

do it MacGuyver-style and build a computer out of a paper clip, styrofoam cup, rubber band and a banana peel. that'll clinch first place! 😉

or you could've done this ahead of time by yourself instead of asking around on forums...?

edit: didnt read correctly, the project itself isnt due tomorrow, just the idea. from my experience, if u dont do a project that stems off of personal interest, it will flip flop and end up as a C+.

proposal is due tomorow, not project

And just to comment on what you guys are saying about coming up with original ideas. Ya umm, I'm not very good at that. That's why I came here.

THx

can you compare a very old computer to a fast one today? Show how technology has advanced and where it may go in the future... How it is all done with ones and zeros...

You could run two programs side-by-side, etc.

Do a liquid nitrogen cooler and see how fast you can overclock something. Worst case, its always amusing when people shatter stuff after liquid nitrogen freezing them.

Actually, just break stuff. Thats more fun.

I was really thinking about doing that liquid nitrogen before and I'm kinda stuck on it. Could you refer any places that would have it? Preferably in the California area. My friend and I are partners and we were thinking of doing this except have it be like an intel vs. amd thing to see how far we could overclock each one and see which one is better. Although I guess the motherboard would probably be an extra variable...hmm.
