Hi,

I am using an Albatron PX845PE Pro II motherboard that has a Promise FastTrak 376 SATA I Controller. I am connecting a SATA II hard disk to the SATA I connector. The drive is detected during BIOS.

I have installed Windows XP SP2 on an IDE drive. I am able to see this drive under disks in 'Device Manager' but not in 'Disk Management' (diskmgmt.msc) in windows XP.

Could you please help me make this drive visible in windows XP.

Here are a few points I think that might of some interest:
1) Windows XP SP2 is installed on an IDE drive.
2) I am installing a SATA II disk on a SATA I port on the second SATA Port on the motherboard.
3) The SATA driver supports 48 LBA or something like that which basically supports drives larger than 137GB.
4) The SATA disk is Seagate 7200.10 320G SATA II
5) The Seagate Disk Wizard does not detected the disk even though the disk is detected in windows 'Device Manager'.

PLEASE Help!!!

Thanks.

Make sure that you have the the jumper placed on the pins limiting the SATA II to SATA.

It shows it on the label on top of the HD.

Otherwise, your MB SATA controller might not be able to detect the new Seagate SATA controler - it is an old chipset afterall. Perhaps the BIOS update would help...?

You can also get the PCI card with the newer SATA II controller.

Good luck!
