This was many moons ago, probably in the late 70s/early 80s. In my city (Philadelphia), the show was on Channel 17 in the afternoon.
The main premise of the show was that a Japanese boy was given a magic whistle, and was friends with giant robots (who lived in a volcano). When the boy would blow on the whistle, the appropriate robot would transformer itself into a rocket to fly to the boy's aid. If he blew once, he'd get the little child robot, twice and he'd get the silver Momma robot, three times, and he'd get the badass Papa golden robot, who would go kick some monster ass. The show was sorta like Ultraman in a way, since it had the same cheesy special effects, and the same cheesy costumes.
Anyways, anyone remember seeing the show, or the name of it?
